“You will have more influence when you go for connection over control”

MY APPROACH

My mission in creating Your Space Psychotherapy is to provide clients a space that feels warm and welcoming. I want clients to have a space where they feel seen and heard, and where stories and experiences can be shared in a judgement free space.

With genuine interest, curiosity and exploration we will gain a more clear understanding of why you may feel depressed, anxious, unhappy in your relationships, or stuck. Together we will work on letting go of old patterns and discover new ways of being and coping. I want to help you uncover your resilience and capacity to change the things you can control and live a life you feel more excited about. I endeavour to help you thrive.

I approach all my work with clients from a relational, attachment and trauma informed perspective. This helps to make sense of some of the “whys” for the emotional or psychological pain you are experiencing. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) emotion-focused therapy as well as psychodynamic theory.

MY STORY

Before starting my own private practice, I spent over 13 years working with youth and families in the mental health crisis unit, eating disorder’s day hospital and in suicide prevention at the Hospital for Sick Children. The importance of a healthy relationship to self and others in order to thrive was apparent in all of my encounters. As a Registered Psychotherapist I have taken my clinical experience and continued to work with youth, adults and all forms of relationships in private practice. I would be honoured to work with you as you seek to better understand yourself, your experiences and your relationships.
